CONVEYANCING FEES, COMPARED PROPERLY

Compare conveyancing fees.
Find better value for your move.

A low legal fee is only one part of the price. Compare the same transaction, the same required work and all the listed charges before deciding which quotation offers better value.

01

Compare the same costs.

Put legal fees, VAT, searches and listed third-party costs side by side. Keep Stamp Duty separate so property tax does not distort the comparison.

02

Know when you pay.

An initial payment is part of the quoted total, rather than another fee on top. We show what you pay at the start and the remaining balance.

PRICE IS ONE PART OF THE COMPARISON

Compare the service behind the quote.

moov Essential

Our standard package for a move where price is the starting point. Purchase quotations include the standard search pack.

moov Plus

Priority purchase searches and the package protection shown in your itemised quotation. Compare the payment stages alongside the total.

moov Premium

Prioritised setup and fast-track purchase searches, with the package protection shown in your quotation.

Search packs apply to purchase work. See the protection options and terms, and check your mortgage lender’s panel coverage when choosing your legal team.

SEE HOW IT WORKS

Same property.
A clearer decision.

An illustrative £1,650 quotation for a £360,000 freehold purchase in England, with one buyer and no additional work. Prices include VAT and listed costs; Stamp Duty is separate.

October 2026 tariff. The £1,650 example is illustrative.

Worked purchase comparison
Package Total Initially Remaining
Essential £1,168.60 £430 £738.60
Plus £1,288.60 £550 £738.60
Premium £1,684.60 £700 £984.60

Premium costs £34.60 more than the example quote. A fair comparison shows higher prices as clearly as savings.

BUYING WITH A MORTGAGE?

The right quote.
For the right transaction.

Tell us your mortgage lender when requesting your quotation. The legal firm handling your purchase needs to be able to act for your lender as well as you.

Adding a lender’s name to this comparison does not confirm panel membership. We check the lender and suitable firm before instruction.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

Comparing conveyancing quotes: your questions.

How can I compare conveyancing quotes online?

Choose buying, selling, buying and selling, transfer of equity or remortgage to open our instant quotation form. Enter your property and contact details to receive your quote. If you already have a quote, upload its PDF or enter the figures to compare the totals, upfront payments and remaining balances.

Will a cheap conveyancing quote include everything?

A low starting legal fee may leave out searches, VAT or additional work. Check the full itemised quotation for the same property and circumstances. Our comparison shows the included charges, while property tax and fees set by a landlord or management company are separate.

What should a conveyancing quote include?

Look for the legal fee, VAT, searches, registration costs and other charges required for your transaction. Check supplements for leasehold, a mortgage, a gifted deposit or other additional work. Keep property tax separate, and ask which costs are payable upfront.

Can I upload a quote from another solicitor?

Yes. Upload a text-based PDF and check the figures we read before comparing. If the document contains several quotations, choose the one you want to compare. For a scanned or unreadable PDF, enter the figures yourself.

Will onthemoov always be cheaper?

No. The comparison shows when our package costs less, more or the same. You can compare the itemised charges and payment stages before deciding.

Can I compare a sale or a sale and purchase?

You can request a fresh quotation for buying, selling or both. The comparison supports buying, selling, both together, transfers of equity and remortgages in England and Wales. Confirm the details for each property and any additional work. Available packages depend on the transaction; specialist circumstances may need an individual quotation.

Is the initial payment an extra charge?

For the onthemoov examples here, it is already included in the total. The remaining balance is the total less that initial payment. Check how your existing provider treats its payment before comparing.

How do I compare protection as well as price?

Check what happens if your move falls through, which costs are covered and the package terms. Our no-sale-no-fee page explains the options. For a fuller checklist, read how to compare conveyancing quotes.
